                                                      Total:      $6.01               660 cal

Time to make: 15 minutes

1.  First thing first: put your pasta to boil. Usually, garnishing for your dish requires the most time, so for most meals, you want to start with it first. Put half of the pot of water to boil. A good trick is to add salt in the beginning because it will make water boil faster. There is a chemical explanation for it, but unfortunately, I am not that good at chemistry.

2. After you put the water to boil, let's prepare our chicken. Cut your filet into small pieces and add salt, pepper, favorite seasoning, and olive oil. The next step is not for the weak ones but to be brave and mix all of your ingredients with your hand. If it is too much for you, you can take your salad utensils and mix this seasoning and oil together. This step is very important because it will help you avoid chicken burning.

3.  Next, we will take your favorite spinach. Make sure that you have enough spinach because three cups of spinach will end up being one. You can cut it as you like or leave it whole. I would only recommend cutting the base of the leave because it would not soften up during cooking, and nobody wants to feel like a rabbit chewing on the spinach during dinner. Now, it is a garlic turn. Just so you know, if you do not want your hands to smell like garlic for the whole week, you better wear gloves or ask your boyfriend to do it. Try to chop it into small pieces, and remember that water is boiling on your stove right now!!! When boiling water, drop your pasta in it for 10 minutes.

4. Now let's cook our chicken! Put some oil with butter on your pan and let the butter melt. The mix of butter and oil will help you avoid burning during cooking. Next, throw your chicken in the pan and cook until golden brown. Take it out, and let's cook our spinach. Same drill. Put some oil and butter on the pan and throw in your garlic. When it turns to golden brown, throw your spinach in the pan. You will know that the spinach is ready when it turns dark green.

5. Next, we will throw our chicken in and just mix a little bit to combine chicken with spinach. Next, we will throw in about a cup of half and half. Let's mix it all and add some seasoning. We will need to wait a couple of minutes till half and half become thick, and now we can throw our pasta into the pan. Wait a couple of minutes until you take it out of the pan for pasta to observe the sauce. When it is done, you are ready to go. If you feel extra fancy today, you can add some parmesan cheese on top. Enjoy!

Chicken Teriyaki

Let's start from the basics. What can be more basic in terms of food than chicken? Exactly nothing! But what if I told you that one pack of three chicken breasts can help you create three amazing and healthy meals under $7? The most important thing about cooking chicken breasts is that you have to have a special talent to mess it up, and I am totally convinced that none of you have it! So remove your chicken from the fridge, and let's get started!

Ingredients:

  • One chicken breast                            $2.67                   231 cal
  • 1/2 cup of rice                                       $0.01                  200 cal
  • 1/2 cup of soya sauce                           $0.3                     50 cal
  • Tablespoon of ginger                          $0.3                       4 cal
  • Tablespoon of cornstarch                $0.04                     30 cal
  • 2 garlic gloves                                      $0.02                       8 cal
  • 1/3 cup of granulated sugar             $0.30                   225 cal
  • 1/4 table spoons of paper                  $0.01                       0 cal
                                                      Total:    $3.65                  748 cal

1. Let's start with our marinade. First, let's cut our garlic into smaller pieces, or if you are too lazy for that, just press it with a thick knife, but remember to take it out at the end of cooking. Ginger might be tricky. If you want a full experience of teriyaki sauce, you will need fresh ginger. Take the sharpest knife that you have and take the top layer from the ginger. If you have a food processor in your house, place it there to make ginger paste. If you do not, do not worry; just cut ginger into thin slices and put it in your marinade. Remember to remove them when you are done with marinating your chicken. Mix soya sauce, granulated sugar, brown sugar and black paper in the bowl and give it a good mix. Next, put the mixture into the pot and let it boil. All the sugar will be cameralized, and the ingredients will combine for our marinade. Let the mixture cool down, and we are ready for our next step.

2. Take a plastic bag and put the chicken on the bottom. Next, pour our marinade over and let it sit till the rice is ready. If you have extra time or you are prepping your meals ahead, you can marinate it for a longer time. It will give the chicken more flavor in the end.

3. Now it is time to cook some rice! To make it nice and not sticky, it is important to rinse it under the cold water! Put rice into a strainer and place in the sink under the cold water. You want to keep it underwater until the water is clear. Next, add 1 cup of cold water and 1/2 cup of rice. When cooking rice, the simple rule of thumb is to have twice as much water in the pot than rice. Bring it to a boil and add a pinch of salt. After that, reduce the heat and rice steam for about 15 minutes. It is a personal preference how you like your rice, so I recommend trying it while you are cooking.

4. Next, we will take our chicken with marinade and place marinade into the pot. Bring it to the hit, and after, lower the heat. Mix cornstarch with two tablespoons of water and add it to the pot. Cook the mixture till the consistency reminds you of the cream.

5. Let's cook your chicken. Slice it on about seven pieces and throw it on the pan with a drizzle of olive oil. After the chicken is fully cooked, place the rice on the bottom of the plate. Next, place your chicken slices on top of it, and after, add your teriyaki sauce on top. If you feel extra fancy, add some cut green onion to your meal. We all know that the camera eats first, and this recipe will not disappoint your followers. Enjoy!
