Plant Based Food in Tulsa, OK
When it comes to traveling, one of the most exciting parts is discovering the incredible variety of restaurants available in different cities. As a vegan, this experience becomes even more fun, allowing you to explore plant-based options and uncover hidden gems. In this blog post, I will share my top three favorite vegan restaurants in Tulsa, sharing my personal vegan journey. I hope to inspire you to step outside your comfort zone and try new plant-based dishes, regardless of your dietary preferences.
My Plant-Based Background
My decision to adopt a vegan lifestyle came at the age of eleven, and it has undoubtedly been one of the best choices I've ever made. Not only have I experienced significant improvements in my overall health, but this diet change has also positively impacted the lives of my family members. My mother has become a pescatarian, and my little sister has embraced a vegetarian diet (still working on my dad's and older sister's diets: ). Together, we have witnessed the transformative power of changing our eating habits.
When I moved from the East Coast to the Midwest, I initially felt stressed about finding plant-based options in Oklahoma. However, after six months of trial and error, I can confidently say that Tulsa boasts some of the best vegan spots I have encountered.
I hope that this blog post will encourage you to broaden your culinary horizons, whether you follow a plant-based diet or not.
1. Inheritance Juicery
One of my absolute favorite places to eat in Tulsa is Inheritance Juicery. This charming restaurant offers a delightful selection of plant-based foods, including smoothies, juices, acai bowls, and various meals. While it may be slightly expensive, I assure you that every penny is well worth it. The customer service at Inheritance Juicery is exceptional, and the store's overall aesthetic creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
2. Chimera Cafe
Another restaurant that holds a special place in my heart is Chimera Cafe, located in downtown Tulsa. This establishment offers a wide plant-based menu featuring breakfast and lunch items. Not only is the food of incredible quality, but the prices are also remarkably affordable. The beautiful aesthetic of Chimera Cafe and the employees' kindness make it a must-visit destination. The only drawback is that they close at 4 pm, so plan your visit accordingly.
3. Pure Foods
Pure Food and Juice was one of the first vegan restaurants I tried upon moving to Tulsa, and it left a lasting impression. Located in the charming area of Peoria, this establishment offers a diverse menu of foods and juices, emphasizing fresh ingredients. While the quality of their products is undeniable, it is worth mentioning that they can be quite expensive.
